Dave’s Hot Chicken Leadership

Aaron Van Kuren

Vice President of Operations

Aaron grew up in a small town in Michigan and began working at the local Little Caesar’s as his first real job at the age of 16, that started his journey in this industry. He fell in love with making food and making people happy enjoying the food and hospitality he and his co-workers provided.

After graduating high school, Aaron left the industry for a few years, yet the desire called him back. After graduating from college, he started working for a small Michigan franchise group of Buffalo Wild Wings in 2002. He worked all positions inside the restaurant and climbed the management ladder. He spent over 15 years with that concept that grew from 2 locations to 64 and became the largest BWW franchisees at that time doing business in Michigan, Florida, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. At one point he transitioned his focus to their own concept Bagger Dave’s where he had numerous responsibilities such as purchasing, menu development & design, marketing, operations and IT.

In 2021 Aaron took the position of Chief Operating Officer of Hot North Chicken, the
franchisee of Dave’s Hot Chicken in Michigan and Northwest Ohio. The first location opened in Dearborn, Michigan in October of 2021 and they just recently opened their 10th location in Woodhaven, Michigan in September of 2024. Aaron doesn’t have a lot of hobbies, yet his main one is spending free time with his wife Maegan watching their 3 kids play sports. He loves every minute of it as he knows it goes by fast.

Isaac Sant

Director of Training & Hospitality

Born and raised in metro Detroit, Isaac has spent over 8 years in food service, working his way up from the bottom. Beginning at the age of 16 at Panera Bread as a team member, he rapidly developed a passion for the industry, the hospitality it can provide, and the opportunities it can create. From trainer to team manager to assistant general manager at Panera, Isaac stayed hungry for every opportunity that crossed his path.

At the beginning of 2022, Isaac had the chance to join a local Dave’s Hot Chicken franchise as an NRO Leader. He quickly fell in love with the simple concept, high quality food and mind-blowing service. After moving into this role, Isaac opened 5 new locations, while spending time honing his skills and taking on extra responsibilities. In March of 2024, Isaac was promoted to Director of Training & Hospitality, taking on a bigger role in training, development and driving guest sentiment. After adopting this role, Isaac continued to open new locations up to a total of 10 restaurants.

Outside of training, development, new restaurant openings and creating memorable experiences for guests in all our restaurants, Isaac enjoys watching horror movies with his wife, staying active, traveling and trying new foods.

Jason Jackson

Area Director

Jason started in the food and beverage industry at 14 working for his uncle at a drive thru burger joint Hot N Now. Moved on to Taco Bell at the age of 16 and worked there throughout high school. After high school he left the food side and joined the beverage side as a barback at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort. Jason worked there for 4 years and at the age of 22 left his hometown with no job lined up and moved to metro Detroit in 2007.

Jason had a friend that worked as a cook at Hooters and got him a job as a cook and over the course of 10 years worked his way up from being a cook to a trainer then to an NRO trainer then promoted to AGM in 2011 and GM in 2012 and then training GM for the Michigan region until 2016. He bounced around after that at a couple of bar/restaurant jobs and then joined on with Aaron at another burger place Bagger Daves which led him into joining Daves Hot Chicken in 2021 as the first GM at the Dearborn location. From there he became the Training GM for his franchise group where he won certified training manager of the year for 2025 and held that position until June of 2026 when he was promoted as the group’s first Area Director.

Jason is an avid Detroit Lions fan and season ticket holder. In his free time he loves spending time with his wife, daughter and dogs, and they are all eagerly anticipating the arrival of his second daughter due in the fall of 2026.
